The Fall: God’s Judgement

The Fall: God's Judgement

In this, the fifth sermon in the Essential Doctrines of the Faith sermon series, we discuss the doctrine of sin.

What is sin?

Why does sin exist?

How does our understanding of sin affect they way we, as Christians, live our lives?

Hello Friends,

I remember vividly my high school English class where I first read the William Butler Yates’ dark poem “The Second Coming.” The first stanza is as follows:

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.”

Written in 1919 soon after the end of World War I, Yates presents a vision of chaos and despair in which it seems that all “[t]hings fall apart; the centre cannot hold;” and “[m]ere anarchy is loosed upon the world,.” Friends, do you also sense the despair, darkness and disillusionment in our world today in which things are just not right? Instead of getting better as evolutionists might portend, things seem to just only get worse! Well there IS a reason for this. We live in a truly cursed world. In disobedience, our “first parents”, Adam and Eve sinned against God’s command, and the result was that we as “Adam’s seed,” are under that same curse. The GOOD news is that In Christ’s death and resurrection, God’s grace is greater than ALL of our sin and depravity and offers us supreme hope! Join us for Connect Worship on Sunday February 28th at 11 AM (PST) right here: https://youtu.be/Rqh3dsC0tS0 . We will continue our Essential Doctrines of the Faith Series, with sermon #5: “THE FALL: GOD’S JUDGEMENT.”

In the Hope of Christ!
Pastor Eric
