Happy New Year! I can imagine that most of you will not be sad to see the year 2020 slouch over into the dustbin of history. It has been a difficult season for most of us. People succumbing to the Covid 19 virus, people being laid off from work, enduring the inconvenience and mental anguish of maintaining social distance even with friends and family… during the holidays, no less! It’s been a tough year… People are searching for HOPE going into 2021. But WHERE you find your hope, is the critical issue.

People find their hope in all kinds of crazy things . . . I read an article online recently that listed “Eight Ways to Have Hope in the New Year.” One of their suggestions was to “create a daily ritual where you light a candle and you meditate . . . You don’t have to believe in any particular deity to make this work. Just silently reflect on the lit candle and feel the hope.” How crazy is that?! However as we will see Sunday, true and lasting hope absolutely MUST be based on God’s eternal truth, the Bible. A Biblical Hope! A hope that an actually affect your circumstances.
