How to Gain a Grip on your Temper

Hey Folks.  I trust you are keeping everything together.  Governor Newsome just made the announcement all schools in LA country as well as many other counties in California will continue to operate through distance learning this coming fall.  As I thought about this, I certainly understand the need to keep students and school employees safe, but I can’t help but wonder about the impact on families with little children especially.  In single parent homes or those in which both parents work outside the home, how will this work?  What about low-income homes in which there is no internet available? What about special needs kids?  I am sure there will be contingency plans, but it will NOT be ideal to say the least.  To say that a child will get the same quality education is just not true.  They will not.

This issue, along with the continued stress associated with Covid 19, can be enough to make anyone experience intense emotional strife. It can make us totally lose our temper just at any other slight inconvenience. Failing to manage your anger can lead to a variety of problems like saying things you regret, yelling at your kids, threatening your co-workers, sending rash emails, developing health problems, or even resorting to physical violence. This week we are continuing our study on the Book of Proverbs and my sermon is entitled, “How to Gain a Grip on Your Temper.”  It is another intensely practical topic!
