The Week of Prayer for North American Missions
Every year, during the first week of March, churches of the Southern Baptist Convention unite in prayer for missionaries and their ministries across North America. This is the Week of Prayer for North American Missions. It also kicks off the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, which is used to fund outreach from the North American Missions Board.
Annie Armstrong was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the summer of 1850. She began her missionary work at the age of 20, ministering to Baltimore’s orphans, impoverished families, and minority communities.
She was instrumental in the establishment of the Woman’s Missionary Union in 1888 and led the organization until 1906. It was during her time as the head of the WMU that the annual Easter offering began.
In 1934, in recognition of her work, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering was born.
As it was in 1895, every penny of the Easter offering continues to fund the planting of churches, the provision of relief aid, and the creation of evangelical missions across North America.
Join us as we pray for the 2,000 missionaries, their ministries, and their families working to bring the Gospel to a population of 275,000,000 non-believers in 350 languages across the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa).
